Hey I’m Heather – it’s good to meet you!

Over the last 15 years, I have been working online, and learning all I can about digital marketing, social media, and creating community. Since 2014, I’ve been a single mom, mostly self-employed, and everyday I’m learning how to do it all with more calm, ease and freedom.

I’m a Brooklyn, New York native who now lives in the beautiful Hudson Valley. My professional background includes a BA in Art History from Fordham University and ten years working in the film and television industry, including over seven years at HBO.

In 2004, I went back to school at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and changed my career completely. I was chosen to author their first ever student-client blog, was selected as a mentor for incoming students, and was chosen for a small group intensive in India. Additionally, I’ve traveled to Europe, Canada, Costa Rica, Thailand, and many parts of the US.

From Health Coach to Business Coach

From 2005-2011, I ran a successful health and life coaching business with clients in person and virtually from all around the world. I led presentations at organizations throughout New York City.

I hosted webinars, created printables, built a solid list and had some success with network marketing too. Over those years I studied everything I could on marketing, content creation and coaching.

In 2011 my business evolved as I became a marketing and business coach for wellness professionals. I launched that June, doubled my income in July, and made more that August than I had the entire first half of the year. I enjoyed a string of five-figure months and built a team of subcontractors on three continents.

Together we built WordPress websites and custom graphics, while I taught my boss mom clients how to make money with client-attractive content, online marketing and using social media. I built that business to multi-six figures.

Becoming a Single Mom by Choice

By 2014, my business success lead me to pursue my next big dream! With the help of an endocrinologist, acupuncturist, and a sperm bank, I became a single mother by choice. My beautiful baby boy was born that November!

Being a single mom, even if you choose it from day one, is harder than you think it’s going to be.

Hell, being a mom of any kind, partnered or not, is harder in reality than you think it will be! I love my son more than anything there ever was or ever will be, but those first years were rough.

Motherhood is the hardest, most wonderful, journey we’ll ever take.

In hindsight, I may have been suffering with postpartum depression and anxiety. My business suffered, as there were a lot of changes happening in my industry and I didn’t have the energy to do more than take care of my baby.

I got by on very little over those years.

What I learned made me more resourceful than ever. It made me determined to lift up other single moms (and any moms) because it’s hard, and we need each other.

I’ve been a budgeting single mom for over 7 years. I made it through the tough years and now I’m thriving on the other side. Through that time, I ran my own business, was on government assistance, went through bankruptcy, and took a full time job.

Inspired to Get Back to Being a Single Mom Boss

In 2018, I took a full time marketing job and let my website go offline (something I now regret).

In early 2020, I met a local single mom and we got talking about her successful online business as our boys played. I was inspired by how she created her own business, so she can have the freedom to make money on her terms and homeschool her sons.

Tired of working in a toxic environment, while my son attended a hybrid homeschool program, it was time. I longed for the creativity and the thrill of running my own business again. Immediately I started brainstorming, researching, and making notes, and Single Mom Bloggers was born!

I was ready to get back to the freedom of being my own boss and show other single moms how to do it too!

In 2022, I fully relaunched my Business Coaching business, returning to my passion for guiding women and mom coaches and service providers to attract ideal clients and build the business of your dreams!
