In this post I’ll detail the best reasons to get into Share-a-Sale and how to start making money with it asap.

What is Affiliate Marketing and Why is it Great for Bloggers?

Let’s cover the basics first, in case you’re new to affiliate marketing.

With Affiliate Marketing, you recommend a product, course or service to your readers with your own affiliate link. When your reader clicks the link and makes a purchase, you earn a commission. It’s that simple.

Affiliate marketing is the best way for beginner bloggers to monetize your blog. Seriously.

You start by joining affiliate programs and networks, like Share a Sale, and then choose the merchants and products best suited to your niche. Through the affiliate programs you’ll get access to professional images, banners and sales copy that you can use to promote the products you choose.

Affiliate marketing is a great opportunity to learn how to sell. You can apply those same marketing skills later to promote your own digital products or services.

Too many bloggers spend years creating great content and making not one red cent. If that’s you, stop! Take a break from content creation, join Share a Sale, and go back and populate your most popular posts with affiliate links to products your readers will love.

How to Make Money with ShareASale Affiliate Network

The first step is to join the Share a Sale Affiliate Network right here.

After you’re accepted into Share-a-Sale, you can begin searching through the merchants to find products you want to promote. Again, it’s important to know your reader well and keep her front of mind as you consider merchants you wish to partner with.

Start small. You don’t need to join every program you find in order to make money with ShareASale.

As you begin to apply to programs, share as much info as you can about how you plan to promote the products.

If your traffic and social numbers are still low, don’t mention them in your program applications. Just share with enthusiasm how much your readers and followers will love their product. Mention that you’ll be creating blog posts to promote their product, as well as using email marketing, social media marketing, Pinterest, video, etc.

Many programs accept new bloggers. And as your blogging business grows, you can re-apply later to any merchants who reject you at this stage. As your readership grows, merchants will want to work with you.

For best results, be sure you have a live website with at least 5-10 solid blog posts published. Also be sure to have your About, Contact and Legal Pages in place before you begin applying.

How to Use Your Affiliate Links

Once you’re accepted into a program, grab your affiliate links and get to work promoting.

To keep myself organized, I use the free Pretty Links plugin for my top affiliate products that I promote most frequently. This helps me when I want to quickly post a link in my Facebook group or an email to a client.

For example, with Pretty Links I created this affiliate link for the Legal Bundle Value Pack I recommend for bloggers who want to make money >> https://singlemombloggers.com/legalbundle

I don’t use Pretty Links for every affiliate program though. I keep a Google spreadsheet with all of my affiliate links for the dozens of programs I work with.

Once you have your affiliate links, there are many ways to begin promoting:

  • Create blog posts including the promoted products
  • Add them to a resources or shopping page on your website
  • Include them in your freebies and funnels
  • Record videos for YouTube, Tik Tok, Reels
  • Create reviews, tutorials, comparisons of your fave products
  • Promote them on social media and Pinterest

Always put your reader first. Don’t suddenly start promoting affiliate links everywhere, out of context or beyond the scope of your niche. Affiliate marketing works best when you do it organically, recommending products that are a great fit for both your content and your readers.

Wait, do I have to buy all these products to be an affiliate?!

Now you may be wondering… do I have to buy every product before I promote them as an affiliate? No!

Ideally, you recommend products you already know and love. This is easiest because you can write or record honest reviews, and those will convert really well.

However, you can promote products you’ve never used. But you must do it with integrity lest you create distrust with your readers, who will never buy from you again.

Do your own research. As you search through the thousands of merchants in the ShareA Sale affiliate network, treat each one as if you were the customer. Click through to their website. Read the reviews of their products. Find YouTube unboxing videos and reviews to watch.

Get a feel for the company and the products and then do a gut check. Would you consider purchasing this product? Would you feel good promoting it? If you don’t get a strong “yes!” feeling, move on to the next.

Also pay attention to other bloggers in your niche who you already trust. What products are they recommending confidently?

You don’t need to disclose that you haven’t used a product, but don’t ever lie and say you have if you haven’t. Instead you may promote a product with language such as “This highly reviewed product” or “My favorite bloggers are loving this and so am I!”. Be honest, and be creative.
